Description

The inspiration for Worcestershire sauce originated in India, then made its way to England, where it was popularized and sold commercially since 1837. While most recipes use anchovies for that signature taste, it’s very unlikely that the original version from India used dried fish. Most likely, they used a little spice named hing (asafoetida) instead. Hing is incredibly popular in India for its ability to add pungency to foods. It is similar in flavor to leeks and garlic. At Pure Indian Foods, we wanted to create our version of Worcestershire sauce with healthy, organic ingredients suitable for vegans, vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. Shake Well. Founded in 2008 by husband and wife, Sandeep and Nalini Agarwal, Pure Indian Foods is an artisanal maker of grass-fed organic ghee products. The company offers a complete line of sustainably-sourced, non-GMO organic curry sauces, organic spices and herbs, and organic Ayurveda products. We created the concept of "Grassfed & Organic" Ghee back in 2008, were featured in NY Times in 2010, and were the first ghee company to get Whole30 approval back in 2011. The ghee side of the business is actually 130 years old, started in 1889, spanning five generations. We make it fresh in small batches in stainless steel equipment in New Jersey, using the milk of cows raised in the USA. Our organic spices and grocery products are mostly sourced from small farms in India. We support small communities as much as possible.
