Please note that elderberries contain seeds that are known to cause stomach upset, so they should not be consumed raw. Instead, cook the berries down using water, press to remove all the juice, and use the liquid as a versatile base for homemade juices, concentrates, syrups, or jellies. Our dried elderberries are sourced in bulk from a USDA Certified Organic supplier, ensuring the highest quality, purity, and care from the very start. However, due to current labeling regulations, you’ll notice that our retail bags are not labeled as “USDA Certified Organic.” This is simply because we repackage the elderberries from their original bulk packaging into smaller bags in our facility. While nothing about the product itself is altered in any way, federal regulations do not allow us to carry the organic label on the final package unless our facility and process are independently certified. We do not add any ingredients, fillers, or preservatives. We also use the same clean utensils, bowls, and handling practices as we do for our other certified organic ingredients. The only difference is that we are intentionally and transparently choosing to forgo the significant financial burden of organic certification at this stage of our small business journey. This decision allows us to continue offering high-quality elderberries at a more accessible price while remaining true to our values of honesty, integrity, and community care.
