Description
A rare sugar from a protected designation of origin! This sugar is not the same as sugar from the coconut palm which is widely available on the market. Instead, the sale of this sugar supports a small community in Cambodia who work with these trees which are a symbolic tree in the country.
The sugar itself is delicate but deeply flavorful, with nutty notes. It has a low glycemic index so is a healthy alternative to regular sweeteners in your hot drinks or on your hot breakfast cereal!
Tasting Notes: Mild with nutty notes (whispers of almond)
Use in coffee and tea as an alternative to cane sugar (palm sugar has a lower glycemic index). Traditionally is is used in Cambodian curries or desserts such as Nam Chuck chan (steamed layer cake) or Num ansom (sticky rice cakes).
