Like most athletes, I wanted something more exciting than water and loved the big hydration brands—fully believing they were good for me. Playing basketball in college and then professionally overseas, I became more intentional about what I put into my body and started reading labels. I couldn’t believe what I’d been drinking for years: artificial dyes, unnecessary additives, processed electrolytes, and massive amounts of sugar—I realized the only thing “good” was the marketing. Tired of searching for a better option, a longtime friend and I decided to create the drink we wanted to buy as consumers. We hired a formulator and spent over two years obsessing over functional ingredients and trying to make it taste great without adding sugar.
