Overview

Description

This bar is part of our CollaBARation™ line, in which we partner with specialty food friends to create a chocolate bar using an ingredient or technique for which they're famous. We handcraft this single origin 62% dark milk chocolate (54% cocoa liquor and 8% cocoa butter, pressed in our factory) with cocoa beans we source directly from farmers in Davao, Philippines plus goat’s milk powder, certified organic cane sugar and a touch of Fleur de Sel Sea Salt. We then add pieces of salted black licorice to the back of the bar, and anise seed to balance the myriad of flavors and create an unbelievable texture. We partnered with our friend, (and Scandinavian distributor), Martin Jörgensen, and his licorice factory, Lakritsfabriken on this bar. Made with rice flour, Lakritsfabriken’s premium licorice is gluten free. The licorice is handcrafted in Martin’s small factory located in Ramlösa. This unique chocolate is gluten free. Askinosie ChocolateEstablished 2007

Askinosie Chocolate is one of the original American craft chocolate makers, founded in 2005. We're a Father/Daughter family business with less than 30 employees known for making award-winning (75+ and counting!) chocolate and pioneering Direct Trade in the chocolate industry. We make single origin dark, milk and white chocolate bars—plus chocolate covered snacks—with minimal processing and ingredients. We're passionate about regenerative agriculture, sustainability and transparency. Our team of 8 chocolate makers roasts, tempers, molds and packages all of our chocolate by hand in our micro-factory in Springfield, MO. Shawn Askinosie, Founder & CEO, travels to each of our four origins yearly to work with farmers, inspect our next crop of beans and share profits with our farmer partners who we feature on our packaging. We publish our annual transparency report on our website, where we detail how much in total we've paid to our smallholder cocoa farmer partners, including profit shares. Our aim is to make the best-tasting chocolate possible—and that the more you and your customers learn about it, the better you feel about it.
