Overview

Description

Our Single Origin bars are made of only two ingredients--cacao and organic cane sugar. That's it. We source premium cacao beans that have delicious, terroir-driven flavor profiles, then add only enough sugar to bring out the best expression of that profile. Flavor Notes: Sweet spices like cinnamon, cardamom and brown sugar seem to peek through a deeply chocolatey body. With low acidity, this is a surprisingly sweet 75%. Pairs Well With: semi-dry red wines, dark beers and evenings when all your work is done. Origin Information: This cacao is grown in East Africa's only lowland tropical rainforest in the far west of Uganda by small farmers, more than half of whom are women, and is purchased through Latitude Trade Co, a social enterprise dedicated to improving farmers' livelihoods. Ingredients: organic cacao, organic cane sugar.

XocolatlEstablished 2014

Xocolatl began after founders, Elaine and Matt, moved to Costa Rica with their toddler and newborn in tow for an unplugged life and a little adventure. Renting a tiny house in the jungle, they settled into their new community and quickly befriended local chocolate makers who were making dark chocolate from cacao growing in those very jungles. The chocolate was intensely flavorful, unadulterated, and pure, unlike the dull, sweet flatness of mass-produced chocolate. Inspired by their experiences, they resolved to learn how to make this type of pure chocolate and introduce it to Atlanta where they knew other people would love it too. Since then, we’ve produced fine flavor chocolate with whole, quality ingredients, and garnered awards from The Good Food Foundation, UK Academy of Chocolate, and The Taste Awards, and Slow Foods Atlanta. Along the way, we’ve stayed committed to our partners growing the cacao we purchase, traveling to origin farms when possible to strengthen our direct trade relationships and ensure transparency, fair pay, and sustainable practices are maintained along the way. With gratitude to the people and place that inspired us, we hope our chocolate brings you and your customers the same sense of contentment and adventure from which it originated!
