Sightglass began with an aspiration to source and roast the highest quality coffees. In 2009, we began with a small, rickety coffee cart in San Francisco. Equipped with a leaky vintage espresso machine, we served coffee to the neighborhood just behind a roll-up garage door in a warehouse. People showed up and remarkably, they kept coming back. The warehouse would become our roastery, first coffee bar, and company headquarters. Ten years later and three cafes later, we opened the doors of our flagship Los Angeles roastery and cafe in West Hollywood. Our name comes from the 'sightglass' viewing window on our vintage PROBAT coffee roaster that exposes the complex and delicate process of roasting coffee. We live by that transparency, the story behind your coffee—where it was grown, how it was processed, and who handled it along the way—is a powerful link from the cup to the world. Ultimately, we aim to deliver the highest quality, whether that means sourcing the best coffee beans, doing right by our employees, and choosing sustainable business practices.
