Overview

Description

Palwasha Spice Afghan Super Negin saffron is distinguished by its long, deep-crimson threads, exceptional color, rich aroma and concentrated flavor. Hand-harvested in Herat, our saffron is independently lab tested and rated ISO Category I. Founded by Afghan-born New Yorker Palwasha Raqib, Palwasha Spice works directly with farmers in Herat, many of them women. Each crocus flower is picked by hand during the brief autumn harvest, and its crimson stigmas are carefully separated by hand. It takes approximately 70,000 flowers to produce one pound of saffron. We purchase from the most recent harvest to offer the freshest saffron available. Saffron crosses cultures and time. Use it in paella, bouillabaisse, Persian stews, biryanis, baking, drinks and desserts. Beyond the kitchen, demand for saffron continues to grow across wellness and beauty. Saffron is often sold with little information about its origin, grade or testing. Palwasha Spice offers something unique: exceptional quality, full transparency, a direct connection to Afghanistan, modern packaging made for today’s grocery shelf and strong value for retailers and customers. Most importantly, it shares the stories of the farmers behind this extraordinary spice and supports economic opportunity in Afghanistan, the true inspiration behind the brand.
