Question: What does a tea enthusiast do when their beloved and exclusive tea become at risk of being discontinued? Answer: You buy the business. The Tea Store began in West Vancouver in 1985 exclusively selling teas that were imported from Teehaus Ronnefeldt that is based in Frankfurt, Germany. As customers we loyally purchased, every month, a large bag filled with Bourbon Vanilla flavored Ceylon teas. We drank this tea exclusively for 20 years. Then in 2018 we learnt that the owners of The Tea Store were closing and our coveted tea supply would end abruptly. Despite each having full time careers and raising a young family we made the bold decision to acquire the business to maintain an ongoing supply of our Bourbon Vanilla tea. Since then the journey has been amazing; we have connected and bonded with fellow tea enthusiasts across both the United States and Canada. We have travelled to Prague and Berlin and completed Ronnefeldt's extensive Tea Master Sommelier program. We have expanded our online retail storefront to also offer wholesale for discerning Hospitality clients. We have also been able to provide charitable support to our community through complimentary tea pouring throughout the year. Most importantly of all, we have learnt that no journey is taken in isolation and fostering partnerships is critical for long term success; we cannot be successful unless you become successful too.
