Our Founder Dr. Sylvie Royston’s lifelong passion for food and healing was planted at a young age in her family kitchen. As a practicing doctor at UCSF, she was inspired by the struggles of her diabetic father and diabetic patients. Sylvie grew passionate about refined sugar’s negative impact on the health of her patients and father. She was unsatisfied with the way honey, maple syrup, and coconut sugar still led to a blood sugar spike and crash, and the processing and unknown side effects of artificial sweeteners – including stevia. With a naturally low glycemic index, nutrient density, and high antioxidant content, she realized organic dates were the perfect solution for a better sugar, leading her to create the company's flagship Organic Date Syrup, the first date syrup on shelves nationwide. Since then, Just Date has released a number of beloved products, including their bestselling Organic Date-Sweetened Chocolate Chips in three flavors, their foodie favorite Organic Pomegranate Syrup, and the alternative baker's dream Organic Date Sugar.
